The GCO18SFB is a good drill/driver. It is not meant for heavy duty use but it has no trouble of handling all normal tasks around the house. It is relatively small but for its size it is a powerful drill. The stud detector is a nice feature. It locates studs through walls with a thickness measuring up to 3/4 inch.
The GCO18SFB features a keyless chuck, a 24-position clutch and variable speed from 0 to 750 RPM. It has a reversible motor and a built-in magnetic bit holder. The GCO18SFB drill is easy to use, at 4.7 pounds it is not really a lightweight drill but it is not heavy
If you need a powerful drill/driver, you should buy a lithium-ion drill (they are much more expensive), if you are looking for a cheap but good compact drill/driver, the Black & Decker GCO18SFB is a good choice. Especially if you also need a stud sensor.
Given that the whole Black & Decker GCO18SFB kit is just a little bit more expensive than the price of a single 18V Ni-Cad battery, if you need a Black & Decker 18V Ni-Card battery, you may prefer to buy the kit rather than just a battery. Note that the battery has to be charged while it is installed in the drill. You don’t get a full blown battery charger, just a DC plug charger.
